Faith Formation

Lifelong Faith Formation

young to old

Once upon a time, there was CCD, then we renamed the process, and it became Religious Education.  Today, we have evolved even further and the new trend is to refer to it as Faith Formation.  This is perhaps the most accurate description so far that describes what it means to learn and grow in our Catholicism.   We have been working hard at St Catherine’s parish to help our families realize that being a part of a program where you learn and grow in your faith, does not end with the Sacrament of Confirmation.  In fact, oftentimes, that is where it begins.

There are many components to our Lifelong Faith Formation program.  Some are regularly offered, some occur when a need arises, still others are seasonal.  But one thing underlies them all – EVERYONE in the parish is invited and encouraged to be a part of the process of growing in our faith.

There is something for everyone:

New parents go through Baptismal preparation;

Preschool children can begin in our L.I.G.H.T. program with their families;

When students become ready to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, they add a preparation program to ready them for these big steps;

L.I.G.H.T. continues for all students, and when they enter high school they add  Confirmation Preparation to their busy teen schedules;

Students with special needs can find just the faith formation they need in our SPRED program;

Marriage preparation is offered for engaged couples;

People interested in learning about and/or joining the faith as an adult can become a part of our RCIA program;

Various other adult programs are held during special seasons of the year which include the Parish Lenten Mission and participation in our L.I.G.H.T. program eight times during the year.

For those people who would like to go even further in the study of their faith, there are many more offerings that can be found through the Diocese of Providence.

The offerings at St. Catherine’s are diverse and numerous and only missing one thing – YOU!  We hope to see you soon at a program that meets your needs and will help you to continue to Grow in your Catholic Faith!
